There has been a market in Swansea for nearly a thousand years and today it has grown to be the largest indoor market in Wales. My doll Carys represents a market girl from the late 18th to early19th century.She is dressed in an open fronted 'betgwn' (bedgown) with self-stripe neck-fill, underskirt, apron and black lace mittens. Her hat is the typical high crowned Welsh felt style and she has a frilled underbonnet of muslin. Carys carries a large basket of beautiful flowers ready to sell at market.Standing 14" high (including hat) Carys has an original porcelain head, hands and half-legs. Her features are carefully china painted and she has life-like set in eyes and a soft brown mohair wig.With certificate Signed & numbered
